Electronic presentation

Britannic Retirement Solutions’ Customer Relationship Manager, Fung- Yee Lee, was looking to devise a new and innovative way to make presentations to the IFA market.

The issue that Fung-Yee sought to concentrate on was the capability to equip the team of National Account Managers (NAMs) with the ability to deliver a flexible, lively and professional presentation.

An integral part of the challenge that Fung-Yee faced was making sure that the NAMs were conveying consistent messages but also allowing for tailored presentations to the IFA audience. In addition, the process of preparing separate presentations on a case by case basis was time consuming and cumbersome. “

The traditional presentations in PowerPoint were beginning to look quite tired, and limiting in its ability”, said Fung-Yee. “The way forward was to set the benchmark in presenting to IFAs. We wanted something that really made them remember Britannic Retirement Solutions in a highly competitive marketplace.”

Strategy

With the challenge firmly set, Fung-Yee went to DVA, who had the ability and scope to produce a product which answered many of the issues that were currently faced. Four months down the line, the end result is a presentation tool which truly stands out from the competition. In terms of managing the information the presentation tool can be centrally maintained, quickly updated and distributed. At the same time, it gives the IFA a professional experience of BRS. It also fits very neatly with the brand and other communications that IFAs see from Britannic Retirement solutions.

Results

The presentation tool is more than just a support tool, and goes beyond the realms of communicating a message. The tool features an element of visual movement and allows for interaction between the presenter and audience. The main functional ability of the presenter is that they can choose a particular path for presenting from a collection of slides.

The tool also allowed for the storage of other peripheral information that may not be necessarily core to the main themes, but which could be drawn upon if necessary. The really amazing part of this is the ability to have an enormous amount of information ready to hand, something the NAMs find of great benefit now and for the future. “The navigation of the tool, provides another dimension that truly allows for interaction, which as you may be aware can help to keep an audience focused” said Fung-Yee and added “The animated section illustrating annuities will really help engage the audience and make our complex message come alive.” DVA has a lot of experience in using animation to explain the apparently unexplainable. On TV programmes, like the recent BBC documentary on Isaac Newton, in major museums and in companies, using animated copiers to explain the benefits of colour documents, for example, or virtual fish to teach about software. The Britannic Retirement Solutions e-brochure used a simple and friendly device – an animated man and woman – to illustrate the range of annuity scenarios.

As with every new project a business needs to see the ROI, and the presentation tool offers this in a number of ways. The tool is essentially a shell that can be added to again and again, providing limitless opportunities that can be explored.

The company is now ensuring that its national account managers are properly trained in using the presentation tool through seminars. “I’m really pleased with it. David Stewart and team have done a great job, showing the kind of professionalism and expertise throughout this project that I hope will come through when we start using the presentation tool” says Fung-Yee.
